A successful essay shows that you understood the passage, including the interplay of central ideas and important details. It also shows an effective use of textual evidence.
Analysis
Students will be expected to examine the author’s use of evidence, reasoning, and other stylistic and persuasive techniques. They will also need to support their claims with evidence.
Writing
A successful essay is focused, organized, and precise, with an appropriate style and tone that varies sentence structure and follows the conventions of standard written English.

Understand elements of a persuasive essay
To be able to analyze a persuasive essay, you need to understand the elements of such an essay. Almost all essays include elements such as word choice and statistics. It’s important or students to understand the logos, pathos, and ethos of persuasive writing.
Narrate and explain a persuasive essay
Every analysis of an essay will require narrating and explaining the author’s view. To effectively narrate an essay, you must be able to describe the author’s view with and without quotes. In addition, students should be able to explain why an essay is persuasive.
Be ready with a plan regardless of the essay
Most students go into the SAT essay exam believing they’ll start formulating an approach after reading the passage. Having a template / plan will keep you organized and help you produce an essay filled with the elements that the test scorers love!
